“As an artist I am very interested in the ideas of giving, generosity, hospitality, and comfort. These ideas are the intentions behind my paintings, the subject, and the message. I am constantly considering what I am giving to the viewer and what I am giving myself through visual creation. Creating art for me is about navigating the often overwhelming love I feel. Although my pieces and their subjects are often very significant to me as an individual, my use of color is what I hope gives something to my audience. My specific color palettes are intended to evoke emotions of nostalgia, comfort, and joy. My references are often personal to me and my life experience and often things that I find beautiful that not everyone else does. Nature, nostalgia, faith and joy. My intent is not to isolate my viewer with these themes, but instead I hope I create something that gives any person with any world view reason to stop and appreciate craftsmanship, love for the subject and love for life. I hope that after leaving my work my viewer is inspired to appreciate the little things that make this world beautiful. Creating these paintings and giving something from them to others is an act of care and deep compassion. I hope you feel them.
