On October 1st, Habitable Spaces had a workshop where we showed folks how to humanely slaughter and butcher ducks. Culling male ducks is an important part of the farming process, because it prevents inbreeding, and keeps a healthy flock. This was a solemn event, but also one in which participants were able to take home a delicious duck for their dinner! We will be having more of these events in the future, with added cooking classes in which we will teach you how to cook rabbit, duck, old roosters(coq au vin!) and pate, among other delicious dishes!
